I may not have been entirely clear... Windows started slowly grinding to a halt, with complete freeze-ups for several seconds at a time, failing to bring up the task manager or switch applications, until finally nothing responded and I hit reset. The only way I knew that the drive was the culprit was because the BIOS then reports that there is no such drive and it is trying to boot from the cd instead.
