May. 1st, 2005 07:03 pmWell, I went out in Manchester last night with the usual local rabble, and was thoroughly miserable. Oh well! However a notable mention must be made of the rather surreal and unannounced pit-stop at
static_n's mother's house, whereupon 40 or so assorted metallers, goths and emos disembarked from the coach and queued up for the toilet. This probably does not happen often in that particular leafy Mancunian suburb.
The journey there was nice (though I will take this opportunity to correct
conspiracychild in that we didn't actually use the Snake Pass to cross the Pennines - that would be the A57, whereas we were on the A616 then A628), and most of it looked like the picture on the right.
It was almost enough to make me miss living near there, as I did 10 years ago. Almost.
Of course, living in that area in the past had also made me very used to the place name Penistone and I was blissfully unaware that some people might actually find that word funny...
Anyway.

Some people are so frustrated by spam that they advocate the murder of spammers. Robert Bruce Thompson, in his weblog at http://www.ttgnet.com/daynotes/2003/2003-35.html#Wednesday says: "The only effective way I can see to kill the spam is to kill the spammers, or at least enough of them that the others take notice and stop their behavior."
(If I had known, back in 1965, that writing the MAIL command for CTSS would lead to death threats and DDoS attacks, I think I would have written some other program.)
