Jan. 7th, 2007 02:37 pmWell, it's been a thoroughly miserable weekend so far, but hey, there's still one day left. Nice to see 2007 is carrying on in the same vein as 2006 though. At least it's reliable.
Some of you might find Maps Of War an interesting site. The imperial history of the Middle East is what drew me there in the first place. At the moment it's mainly stuff to do with Iraq and so on. And for some reason, despite my ever-increasing cynicism, I was still surprised to see that the American forces have flattened pretty much all the trees around Saddam's palace and replaced them with temporary housing and parking spaces. [here]
I got The Prophecy's second album "Revelations" the other day. It's very good, but I find myself preferring the demo versions of the tracks I've heard before. The same thing happened with Forest Stream's album, and with the first one by Daylight Dies. I wonder if that's some sort of of halo effect attached to the novelty of the original, or if the newer version is actually not as good.
