Feb. 4th, 2007 02:38 pmThursday saw me heading over to Junktion Seven to meet up with
jen_whitewave to endure another thrash gig, which sounded just like the last one. Still, it was good to get out of the house, especially since I didn't go out on Friday night, which was very disappointing, but shouldn't have been unexpected. Saturday was largely wasted due to my negative mood carrying over. Saturday night was better, where a trip to Sheffield showed that no matter where you go, you always recognise someone - in this case, the inimitable Mike 'Vegas' Hammond and Rod from the local band Awaken. However, I would have been bored as hell if Chris had left at 11pm as he had intended to, though.
In my poorly utilised spare time I've been reading maths articles for game programming, or at least reading the first 2 pages of each one before they descend into complexities I have no chance of understanding. I've also been continuing work on yet another song that is taking forever to write, because I don't know what I'm doing. Most frustrating.
I've also been playing New Star Soccer 3 which is an impressively addictive game by an independent developer. It's great to see what teams of one or two people can come up with, when daily I have to deal with the slightly less inspiring work done by entire teams of professionals. (Not our team however, which is obviously perfect...)
Request time: does anybody have the original Colonization game for DOS? The Underdogs site only has the WinG version, and I don't want to install WinG just for one game. I think Apocalypto reawakened my enjoyment of crushing indigeneous cultures, albeit computerised ones.
PS. Computer still isn't fixed, after almost 3 months now. I was going to buy a new graphics card to test that half of the equation, but unfortunately finding someone to sell me the type I want (Nvidia 7600GT, fanless) is proving unnecessarily difficult.
