"Two police officers have been injured in an explosion during a siege at a block of flats in Nottingham.([1], [2])
The building, in Church Square, Lenton, was earlier evacuated by police after a man barricaded himself in a flat and threatened to cause an explosion.
There was a "detonation" at the block at about 0100 BST on Sunday, Nottingham police said. An outer wall collapsed and the building caught fire.
A man was arrested at the scene. The two officers were taken to hospital. They were treated for smoke inhalation and shock and later released from hospital.
A police spokeswoman said the fire was extinguished at around 7am this morning."
Unsurprisingly, that's the dodgy bit of Lenton near the council flats, which most people tend to avoid if they can. Apparently that's where most of the burglars come from, when they cross the boulevard to steal stuff from the student houses. Shame they can't just bulldoze it.
