Mar. 2nd, 2006 11:12 pmI am really looking forward to my much-needed week off next week, though I'm sure at least half of one of the 5 days will be spent sorting out all the stuff my housemate Chris is lazy enough to leave for 3 months instead of doing them within a reasonable timespan, ie. pay the water bill. More frivolous time will be spent either going out or staying in and doing useful and/or fun stuff. Perhaps I should finish at least one of those computer games I mentioned a few entries back.
As I mentioned before, I installed TurboGears, which rather than being a racing game or something as the name would suggest, is a web development platform written in Python. The good side is that it makes everything very easy to do. The bad side is that you need to know exactly how to use it in order to do that and the documentation is hopelessly lacking. I suppose this is how computer novices feel when given a word processor or other large program, knowing there is an option somewhere to format their entire document the way they want it, if only they could find the right button. Still, maybe I'm hindered by my incredible lack of patience, which largely comes down to only having 30 minutes a day to spend on this stuff.
Would anybody be surprised to hear that I'm getting poor service from Royal Mail again? I got a 'you were out or I didn't feel like bringing the parcel with me' card through the door last Wednesday, and despite a redelivery request being made to them on Tuesday, they have returned it to the sender. The fuckers are supposed to hold recorded mail for a week but instead have sent it back early. I have no idea which item this was, since I am waiting for several, so now I have to email various sellers to see if they've actually sent my item yet, and if so, to wait for it to be returned to them. Or, if I'm lucky, it'll show me where it returned it to on the Track and Trace page, if they even bother to track it (which they seldom do with my mail, it seems). I HATE Royal Mail. Only NTL comes close for sheer underhandedness coupled with incompetence.
