Jun. 1st, 2006 06:35 pmI succumbed and bought a Novembre album today. I may as well have one album by all the major bands in that genre, anyway. I also picked up a Cemetary album for £5; hopefully it's not crap. Wish me luck.
Memorable dreams have afflicted me recently too. This morning, I dreamt that someone I knew was being held hostage by some thug, in the middle of a school playing field. My grandad went to rescue this hostage by sneaking up behind the perpetrator with some sort of blunt instrument, but made the mistake of saying something like, "aha, now I have you!" at the last second, alerting the bad guy to his presence. A bit later, I was back at my (old) house, and heard that my grandad was still down there, with my brother (as he was 10 years ago), and that they had bird flu. For some reason this meant I had to kick a white bird in my garden to death, feathers going everywhere. Then I went down to the field to rescue my relatives, only to find out when I got there that my brother and one other unknown person were fine, but that my grandad had died. :( My brother pointed me at grandad's house - which had strangely appeared on a road which had also strangely appeared - at the side of the field. It was covered top to bottom in "warning - virus" tape, which I thought was an overreaction. And then my "ok Ben, now you know this is just a dream" detector woke me up.
I heard an OMD track on the radio the other morning. Way, way back, I remember my stepdad owning one of their albums, but I never heard it, supposing it was some sort of adult-oriented rock rubbish. Imagine my surprise to hear this track being some sort of proto-goth. I suppose that with him listening to gothic synthpop and my mum being into Def Leppard and Iron Maiden, it was pretty obvious I was going to end up the way that I did...
On a totally different note, how many phones have built in GPS these days? Very few, I'm guessing? I had a cool idea for a game to develop for mobile phones, but it would require GPS so I expect it's a non-starter. Curses.
Oh, and a big thumbs down to having to find a new place to live yet again within 2 months. I don't care about settling down, but it would be nice to not have to relocate annually for a change.
