Life is making me pretty fed up at the moment, but I won't go into all that. There's one good thing, though: I just completed Might and Magic 6. I preferred its prequel to be honest; this one seemed to have just a little too much repetitive killing, and the world seemed less interesting to explore, perhaps due to being split up into 12 explicit areas. Half of the spells were useless, and it definitely felt as if they sacrificed large parts of the game to ease the transition to 3D. Curse you, graphics cards.
I take so long to play and complete games, that there are usually so many different things I'm reminded of when playing one like this. I bought it from PC World in October 2001 - I have the receipt in the packaging, rather than just being anal enough to remember this sort of thing - back when I had just started my final year at uni. As I wanted to complete episodes 4 and 5 first, I didn't actually start playing it until late 2003 or early 2004, 2 girlfriends, 1 house, and 1 bachelors degree later. I've played it at irregular periods since then, spanning another 3 house moves, finally completing it 3 years after I started and 5 years after I bought it. This doesn't bode well for the 20 or so RPGs I have yet to begin.
Which game next then, given that my inevitable mortality dictates that I will not finish them all and thus, order is important? Oblivion and Thief 3 are ruled out for now since my computer can't handle them properly any more. I suppose Might and Magic 7 is the obvious choice, although perhaps the most boring one. Or Wizardry 8? Divine Divinity? Clive Barker's Undying? Fallout 1? I still have Myth 2, Realms of the Haunting, Bards Tale 2, and Age of Wonders on the go, as well. Aargh. I might have to give up sleeping or something.
