accidents in the workplace
Aug. 30th, 2007 08:15 pm"Workman injured in crane collapse" - when I was coming back from work at 6pm, most of the bottom of Mansfield Road was still cordoned off. Interestingly there seemed to be a 'soft' cordon, manned by Police Community Support Officers, and a 'hard' cordon nearer the scene, manned by real police. Apparently one worker was seriously injured. The fallen vehicle is lying directly over the path I walk on each morning to get to work. Maybe I'll use the other side of the road tomorrow.
In similar news, "A man is seriously ill in hospital after collapsing in a butcher's shop in Beeston earlier today. The unnamed man was working at Barnsdale butchers on the High Road when he collapsed around 1.30pm. Paramedics took the man to the Queen's Medical Centre for treatment. Police described his condition as serious. Officers arrested a colleague of the sick man's after paramedics claimed he was obstructing them."
