Today I've mostly been sat around feeling sorry for myself at the horrible cold I have. Lemsip Max only has so much effect, and the overindulgent use of tissue paper is eroding my nose down to nothing. Around tending to my man-flu-afflicted state I'm listening to Fields of the Nephilim (does this make me a goth?) and debating better ways of documenting an object-relational mapper for Python (does this make me a geek?)

I've not done all that much of late, at least not of worth. But here's the summarised version for my own benefit as much as anything:
  • got further behind at work, because everything is turning out to be R+D, which means it's impossible to budget time for
  • saw Lordaeron, Dam, Goat The Head, and 1349 play on Wednesday night, which was ok. The singer of Dam made a frustrating attempt to chat to me afterwards, which was annoying.
  • went to Full Metal Racket on Friday. It's a shame it was almost literally empty, but it's not entirely surprising either, all things considered.
  • bought a new leather coat, failed to buy new boots (due to there being none in my size), and failed to understand how to work a new belt that I bought (doh).
  • bumped into Chris and ended up getting a free lunch in the pub - score.
  • went to Leon's house party last night, and reminisced with [livejournal.com profile] yourapocalypse about how they don't make freshers/parties/things like they used to. Various young people stole my Pringles, but that's about all that happened.
Recently I've been buying a lot of 'funeral doom' - yes, that is a genre. Or at least, a sub-sub genre. 99% of it comes from Finland. I'd say they must be really unhappy up there, but Sonata Arctica and Stratovarius would seem to defy that trend. I guess they just don't do anything by halves.
