ageism?

"Under the legislation, employers cannot specify an ideal age in advertising a job, nor ask for a specific amount of experience."

Yet, in recruiter emails sent to me in the last year:
"and at least 5 years experience"
"The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years relevant experience"
"5+ years Industry experience"
"at least 5 years experience"
"you will be required to have a couple of years commercial experience"

To be fair, probably 50% to 60% of the emails these days don't specify any experience, which is a big change from when I was unemployed a few years ago and almost everything in the industry stipulated a 2 year minimum.

But is this a positive step? Is it going to lead to employers receiving many more applications for each post, many from people who aren't going to be taken on? Does it mean people [will] no longer put the duration of their experience on their CV? Will people leave it off entirely, and take you to an employment tribunal if you ask them about it? This seems rather strange to me. For every company that uses 'experience' as a cover for getting older staff, I expect there are about 50 who use it as a way to specify the seniority of the position they're trying to fill. So surely banning that is a bit ridiculous?
