Earlier today the girl in the next room along saw me in the corridor and asked to swap some coins for the laundry machines. Then the guy from the room opposite came into the building, and when he saw us, greeted me in English and her in Polish. She replied in the same language and they exchanged a few words before and after I walked off. Both seemed outwardly friendly but it seemed a bit rude for them to be talking in front of me in a language it's unlikely I would understand. On the other hand, they're not going to speak English to each other when it's more effort, so I don't know.
Yesterday that same girl was talking to the new one that has moved in the other side of me, also Polish. So I have Polish people on both sides and opposite me now, though the other person on my floor is English. Is there room for all these new people? I wonder what effect it has on housing prices and rent here. And is Poland empty now?
