I had my first modelling assignment today. A couple of girls stopped me in the street and asked if I'd pose for a photo - ostensibly for an art project though I have my doubts about their sincerity - while holding a sign and striking some sort of clichéd metal pose. After trying (and failing) to rope 3 passing friends into participating, I agreed and did the deed. What the hell, eh?

I bought a new strap for my guitar. I figure that if the fucker won't stay above horizontal without me having to haul it upright, there's no chance of me being able to play it properly.

Last night they had 2 rooms open at the student rock night, which meant a greater variety of music being played, but which also meant me missing the first half of 'Punish My Heaven' by Dark Tranquillity due to being in the wrong room. Unlucky. 2 doses of At The Gates and 1 of Amon Amarth made up for that however.

2 weeks to the release of the new Daylight Dies album. Woo! And the new Katatonia album which I'm less concerned about. I will be somewhat disappointed and more than a little surprised if they don't do a European tour together this summer.

I am a bit amused that the first riffs of this Hypocrisy song sound like Judas Priest. As does the screaming 3m50 into the song. I think [livejournal.com profile] _arnamentia_ might regret lending me this album after such comparisons.

ARRRGH!!! SHHHHH about the scream... it's meant to be ironic, I'm sure.

blue tack is quite blatantly the answer. Or velcro. Or, if your feeling really cool you will have to grow your hair super long and tie your guitar to that. That would be amusing.

Oh and i dont really hate *everybody*. I was being a little bit cross.

I understand about the guitar strap. They suck, period.

Leather straps seem to help keep the guitar in place, and above horizontal, for me anyway. I'm having trouble finding a short enough strap though, because I prefer to wear my guitar extremely high. Like I said, straps suck. Can never find the right one.

Oh yeah, I've been there with that before. After the strap came off my Dean a couple times (a discontinued model, although awesome) and it tried to fall to the ground (I saved it though, haha), I decided to invest in some straploks. They really work. I hear the Dunlop ones aren't that great so I got some Schaller straploks, it's such a great system, the strap is pretty much guaranteed to never come off, unless you unlock it.

On a different subject.. and just out of curiosity, how many programming languages do you know?

Cheaper alternative to a straplok, if you don't care about looks:
Unscrew the strap button, and screw it back on, except with the strap already around the button and a huge ass washer in front of it. It'll never come off. =P

That's alot of languages, man.. I can only dream of that. I took a C++ class a few years ago, when I was really into that and that's what I wanted to do for a living (I was 17). Ironically, I think I got a C in the class and pretty much bombed the last few tests because I didn't understand some key features of the language, haha.
