Feb. 10th, 2006 08:57 pmRoyal Mail is facing a record £11.4m fine for failing to adequately prevent mail being lost, damaged or stolen. "Royal Mail has admitted that more than 14 million letters and parcels were lost, stolen, damaged or tampered with last year." and "An estimated 200,000 items were stolen by Royal Mail staff".
"Royal Mail said the fine was "unreasonable", stressing that it had significantly tightened up its security procedures since 2004. It also stressed that the money spent on paying the fine could be better used to improve customer service."
I don't want better customer service! (To be fair, it would be hard for them to get any worse.) I want my packages to get here in the first place so that I don't need to deal with customer service.
I was supposed to be going out this evening but I've been ill the latter half of this week with some sort of virus-type ailment, which is no fun. I might play one of my long neglected computer games instead, such as Majesty (neglected for 5 weeks), Civ III (4.5 months), Myth 2 (8 months), Might and Magic 6 (1 year, 4 months), or Bards Tale 2 (4 and a half years!). It's unfortunate that getting a life tends to interfere with my computer gaming so much.
