So now we have several people dead across the world solely because many Muslims cannot tolerate a dissenting voice. This isn't a racial thing, as I'm sure white Christians would have done the same a long time ago, but it is a cultural thing, as aforementioned Christians found out that such methods were not considered acceptable by the wider world and largely gave up the whole burning-at-the-stake approach. It's all very well the Muslim leaders condemning what they call small groups of extremists, but it's quite apparent that something in the Islamic teachings is seriously at odds with what our culture considers acceptable.
A great little quote here:
So, flags and indeed embassies have been burned, threats have been made, and some of the demonstrators have ended up killed in clashes with security forces. I wonder what is on the mind of the editor at Jyllands-Posten, who made the original decision to publish the images. I think that he or she is probably shocked at what has happened, but will feel that the intended point has been successfully made.
A great little quote here:
"They want to test our feelings," protester Mawli Abdul Qahar Abu Israra told the BBC.
"They want to know whether Muslims are extremists or not. Death to them and to their newspapers," he said.
