Mar. 19th, 2006 03:57 pmGrr, I hate people. Someone posted on the Daylight Dies forum asking if anyone had the lyrics to the new album, because he couldn't find them on the internet. The lyrics are printed in the cd sleeve. So this guy is essentially saying, "hey, I don't own the album, nor am I likely to, but I ripped it off from the internet and I like it enough to ask you to give me the lyrics." And he's done that on the band's forum in front of the guys who worked for 3 years to make that record possible. If it was real life I'd punch the guy.
While I'm in a complaining mood, I dislike the fact that the Metro newspaper here has an Audit Bureau of Circulations figure. That's supposed to be an authoritative number telling you exactly how many copies were sold. Metro should not have this number because it's blatantly false. It is given out for free in the train stations and city centres, and most copies end up on the floor or on the seat on a bus or something. I even saw one distributor post about 10 of them in the bin, perhaps taking after my local postman. Either way they shouldn't be boasting official distribution figures when they really have absolutely no idea how many get read. A silly thing for me to get annoyed about, but then I suppose I'm just irritated that their people harass me every morning on the way to work.
I'm also annoyed that Ebay is practically unusable for me most of the time. I heard this was an NTL proxy server issue, but I dunno. Half the pages work fine and half don't. Typically it's the 'My Ebay' page or search results pages that crawl along, usually giving up half-way through. Anybody else see this?
What else? I finally got my computer programming stuff to cooperate, despite the poor documentation. So that's going well. I still need a new computer though. The only reason I don't have one yet is that I keep forgetting to getting around to sorting it out. I'm still waiting for the 3rd delivery of this book I ordered 7 decades ago.
Today's unrelated yet funny quote: "It's frustrating if you're a microbe that's been wandering the Universe for a million years to then die striking the surface of Europa" (source)
