Feb. 29th, 2008 10:26 amLast night I went to see some local bands with Chris and Allan. They were as follows, in order of performance:
Guards of Gethsemane: completely dire. I've no idea what they were trying to play here, and I doubt they have either.
Blood Divided: competent death metal band let down by annoying singer who was insulting the 'crowd' before they even started playing. "It was full here a minute ago, then I opened my mouth and now it's empty". Well, duh. Probably a nice guy when not talking.
Lordaeron: I must have seen this lot 4 or 5 times now. Decent enough death/black metal, but you can't hear any subtlety at all when they play live. You see a lot of guitarist finger movement but the noise doesn't change.
Drag The Lake: local 'legends'. Or to put it another way, burly bald guys with wallet chains, playing burly-bald-guy-with-wallet-chain music. Local 'legend' status does not allow them to bring more than 5 or 6 fans to a gig however, which does not surprise me one bit because it's really not all that interesting. Sorry guys!
Other highlights of last night were Fiona's amazing dressing gown (not very metal), and me managing to write some more music between getting back from the gig and going to sleep. No breaking the chain!
I'm also thinking about writing a Facebook application. it seems like an interesting thing to do, and probably not too difficult.
