This weekend's been great. On Friday I tagged along with all the university's rocking-type-people and descended upon the Electric Ballroom via the World's End pub. Edited highlights might include:
  • [livejournal.com profile] shallowthing's dodgy tape we had played on the coach (Gary Moore! The Steve Miller Band! Thin Lizzy!)
  • Mocking [livejournal.com profile] vampiric_monkey for mercilessly (and somewhat unintentionally) kicking a helpless box of confectionery to death
  • Having [livejournal.com profile] static_n rant at me in German while I was at the urinal in the World's End
  • Vicky's corset that was so tight she couldn't breathe or move
  • Meeting [livejournal.com profile] ogly, one of the 3 females nationwide who like Dark Tranquillity
  • Impressing everybody [livejournal.com profile] baybee_bat with the glowsticks Dave foolishly bequeathed me
  • Seeing the omnipresent Herman Li, who was on his own much of the night. Awwww!
  • [livejournal.com profile] static_n being toilet-bound almost all night
  • A 'chill-out' room in the Electric Ballroom where they play In Flames (!)
  • The impromptu recitation of fake G.I. Joe videos on the coach back home

Ok, looking back at the list, maybe you had to be there.

Last night was pretty good too. Megadeth were playing at Rock City but sadly I wasn't going to pay £16.50 for the dubious privilege of seeing Dave Mustaine sneer his way through good-but-not-great thrash songs for 2 hours, so I did the next best thing and waited in the downstairs room for people to come out of the gig and tell me how 'great' it was. I ran into the equally omnipresent [livejournal.com profile] perfectglitch, chatted with [livejournal.com profile] mephistophelisa (RIP journal), saw [livejournal.com profile] doompixie, and finally got to meet and talk with the inimitable [livejournal.com profile] ashette. Many others of note were also out, but to be fair I'm getting tired of typing <lj user="whoever"> now.

Today, I am re-learning the Java programming language so that I can make a start on some coursework. Next week is my busiest week at university in terms of lecturing hours, but after that I'm down to just 4hrs a week - the easy life! Shame about the abject poverty on the side, but somehow I'll survive, much like the cockroach does...
